Truth. Thank you, brother.
With any rate of improvement similar to what we’ve already seen, yes dev jobs will eventually be replaced. They’re tools now but this is just the beginning. I mean this isn’t even really AI yet, they’re just language models. So no, these LLMs are not going to replace dev jobs, but that doesn’t mean the next big “tock” moment isn’t coming after all the “ticks” No i don’t think this is an excuse to not learn to code because it’s still very valuable, but it probably won’t be forever
I agree! We want more doomsayers on software development vs. AI. There will be more mess to untangle when clueless business people follow this advice, and as a result, more need for the real software engineers. My prediction is that there will be an AI bubble, just like the Internet bubble from 20+ years ago. Cheers!
eat carnivore, buy BTC, avoid all pharma, dont buy into virolgy (germ theory) pseudoscience and code
To be fair, whenever you'll touch a language different than the one you're used to you'll find it different at first but after two weeks you'll fall in love with it, happened with C Dart after i only knew python at the beginning
and pls learn maths.
Why? Curious.
Yep, there we go, graphic designers and illustrators. Out of the chart. :D :D I'm gonna finally learn to cook properly. :D :D Cuz nurse, nope... slightly afraid of needles and hospitals for more than the casual visits (btw, in my language, nurse translates only for female nurses, I think... so, in that case, an extra issue for me :D ). Or keep learning programming; I'm finally enjoying it, after all.
I don't know how many videos are recorded on YT with the same topic. I cannot believe that OpenAI paying you all to advertising it? Or they just get it for free :)
Because we all know how good predictions of any kind in any realm turn out especially for such long time horizons
All these videos take TODAY's progress and compare it against the possibility of AI taking jobs in 5 years. You gotta extrapolate the rate of progress 5 years into the future and THEN consider it taking jobs 5 years into the future, because in 5 years it will have been developing for 5 more years than what it is now with the same or higher rate of progress. Yes, today it's not very capable, but look at the RATE it's improving. And how about in 10 years?
React is so bad it's making me angry for no valid reasons.
The more I get into coding the more I understand that AI is far from replacing coders. And I'm a fresh nooby I'm coding (only 5months)
One of the advantages of working for a smaller concern, especially one that does consulting and staff augmentation for clients, is that you learn a lot in a short time. Not just in terms of different technology stacks, but also different business domains. In the space of a year, you may be working for 6 months at a logistics company, three months in private banking and another three months at a tiny NGO that cannot afford to operate a Java stack. It makes you a more competent and skillful software engineer.
I've tinkered with it some, tasking it with some advanced, high-performance computing problems and, while it did perform better than GPT 3.5, it still struggled with a lot. For instance, with GPT 3.5 I asked it at least 5 challenging numerical linear algebra questions and with GPT 3.5, it wasn't able to code any of it other than some pseudocode, but GPT 4o at least coded 2 or so of the questions and the rest was just pseudocode again. It still makes lots of mistakes and I'm still catching it hallucinating. In fact, it's even making LaTeX formatting mistakes still where it will display LaTeX commands in red and not actually format it properly just like GPT 3.5 did. Definitely a welcome improvement and I'm enjoying working with it, but it's far from replacing coding, itself.
Coders will never be replaced.
I do 2 hours take a break to eat Than 1 hour and half take a break Thank 4 hours then I’ll read I do that for everyday is that good or bad
I’ve been watching you forever. Still unemployed. Voluntarily.
Coffee doesn’t grow in Canada. This video is fake.
I imagine the following scenario: A client believes he/she can use gpt 4o to implement something new to the project, messes up a lot, and pays more to the developer to fix everything.
Great video, also so true, the only way to get better is by doing.
Porsche! I am more in the Reliant Robin world 🚙 Cheers Uncle Stef
AI is a great help to find code snippets, and resources, in a certain way, it is a much better Google search. I like it a lot and I am an AI intusiastic, but we are still far from an real creative AI.

Using Javascript for web dev made me understand Python better. Javascript and Python are so synonymous.
I currently self-study python for a month and I think I have learnt the basic fundamentals (except OOP), so when should I learn a different language? After OOP or after intermediate concepts?
Been there half a year ago. OOP in Python is very bad because it doesnt fulfill the requirements for OOP and most Python Devs/Tutorials dont care for OOP. Java helped me a lot in understanding it. In Java you are forced very early into OOP and it gives you an much better understanding. And if you do it, use Intellij Community insted of Eclipse. Eclipse just feels horrible... Wish you best of Luck on your conding Adventure!
@@timkreutzkamp8519 Thanks you 👋🏻
@@timkreutzkamp8519 What did you build with python? because if you want to work on the web, to do webscraping, data analisys, machine learning, etc, etc, you need OOP.
I am had been in React for a few years, but been hearing good things about Vue. Think, i will try Vue.
Give it 2 years
Software development is vast. What type of software development are we talking about here? Is it AI development? Are web developers even included in that software developers category that you're talking about?
I've been thinking the same thing. Surely AWS has 'replaced' more developers than AI has.
I use python at work to automate and clean data and automate data entry. While on the side, I use python django to build websites. This has tremendously helped me gain a deeper knowledge of python. When I get stuck, I ask chatGPT to explain it to me and when I come across a similar situation, I recall back to the answer and explanation chatGPT gave me and execute it once more. I think programming is not about mastering the language but how you use this language and it's syntax to solve problems.
Programming these days is more about coming up with a relatively good architect and then writing maintainable code.
Can someone just do it for me so I can get paycheck
Advice for the next 10 years: Eat healthy and learn how to code.
Or eat healthy, make exercise and be happy (not in this order of priority). And learn how to code.
software dev here i come...
To land a job these days you don't have to be good, but to be a god, or just have strong connections.
I learn on my on to code and i use AI and hy help my whit 99% but that 1 % that ai have to resolve on my one what more hard than that help. AI will help you but not entirety and the part you have to resolve it's hard for a bigenner. I must read documentation, search on youtube and others platforma for developer and not find exactly what i search for. Soooo... 😅😅

It's great to see the job growth trends from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Interesting to note the high demand and strong future for software developers. Your health tips are on point. Keep up the great videos!
thing that gpt allows me to do is code at a much higher level and a lot quicker than I am. But I still need insight to ask gpt to do the things I need to ask it to do. I cant just say.. "sort this out and make it work like this". Hope it doesnt get so better too quickly though.. for obv reasons. Im on the fence on whether AI will or wont make us coder obsolete. I see how amazing AI is now with code and its limitation. I work with it everyday. Honestly, if it cannot quite jump the hurle of understanding how to solve a problem.. we're fine. But if it can see a large enough dataset of coding challenges and their solutions.. and also code.. we're out of work, maybe.. unless AI itself generates a completely new kind of work which is what nearly always happens with new tech that makes things "easier". Thats why its important we invite it into our lives as early as possible and get slick with it.
Thanks!
Welcome!
Python as well?
